Imagine customer frustration when they browse through your catalog or multiple search results just to find that the product is out of stock. Not displaying the most rated products once they are out of stock is not an option unless you create a Back-in-Stock category

In both cases, you are prone to lose prospects and conversions, not speaking about the customer experience.

Luckily there is a solution — Magento 2 out-of-stock notification or Magento product alert. The best thing about it is that it's a native Magento feature. It means you don't need any third-party integration to keep your customers satisfied.

To enable Magento 2 Out of Stock Notification:

1. Enable the Display Out of Stock Products option in Stores > Configuration > Catalog > Inventory.

2. Navigate to Stores > Configuration > Catalog > CatalogProduct Alerts and enable the Allow Alert When Product Comes Back in Stock option.

You can customize Magento 2 email template for stock alerts if the default one doesn't fit your requirements and set the Email Sender.

Just enabling this option is enough for the "Notify me when back in stock" notification to be displayed on the storefront. However, it doesn't send notifications.

3. Specify the Frequency and Start Time when out of stock notification should be sent in the Product Alert Run Settings section.

Fill out the Error Email information to be notified about any issues with the out of stock notification and Save Config.

Magento out of stock notification ensures that you don't miss out on any conversions while keeping customers satisfied. However, if you still don't want to display the out-of-stock product in your store, you have to pay attention to your stock.

For this case, you can configure low stock notifications in Magento and receive emails about product stock being low wherever you are.
