magefan blog new

It's been 10 years since the first release of the Magefan Blog — the first blog extension on the Magento market. We're proud to be the first ones to offer Magento users a free marketing tool to drive more traffic, promote their products and improve SEO.

Throughout those years, the free Magefan Blog has been delivering a variety of 80+ features that help people get noticed in search results. And it worked. Fast forward to the present moment to see Magefan Blog being the №1 free blogging tool for Magento stores with:

  • 1,800,000+ downloads
  • 10,000+ stores using it
  • Integration with 10+ most popular Magento themes
  • 320+ reviews on magefan.com website only
  • 119 released versions

All those years, the Magefan Blog has been offering more features in a free version than some of the paid solutions provided in their most basic plan.

However, time flies, and it becomes harder for us to continue adding on to the massive functionality of the free Magefan Blog. It's a free version, so some of the features are delivered longer or not delivered at all, since we prioritise more sophisticated, advanced plans.

But we want the Basic Blog to continue to grow and offer more outstanding features. That's why we've decided to make it paid for Magento Open Source starting from version 2.13.0. It will allow us to finally realise all those features we have for it in the backlog, deliver them faster and optimise your experience even more.

We're releasing the first paid version 2.13.0 of the Basic Blog with an added declarative DB schema (we migrated the install/upgrade scripts to the declarative schema) and PHP 8.4 compatibility.

And that's just the beginning. We have big plans and changes coming soon, including better design, management, and usability:

  • Improved admin panel UI through UI grids implementation.
  • Improved blog categories UI — new category tree grid similar to that of Magento categories.
  • Advanced layout builder for easier page structuring.
  • Improved frontend design and templates.
  • Integration with different content management services.
  • And more ...

But we know what you're all thinking — what does it mean for users who've been using the free Magefan Blog for years? And the answer is — nothing changes.

All users of the free Magefan Blog continue using the extension for free up until the 2.13.0 version. There are no charges or forced purchases. You can continue with the latest free version available for you, which is 2.12.4.

However, if you do want to update and get access to all those upcoming features, you'll need to Purchase the Basic Blog and get a product key.

Thank all of you who've been Magefan Blog fans throughout all those years. You motivate and encourage us to do better and grow.

We're extremely excited for this new chapter of our Blog, which we promise to be full of new, remarkable features.
